Hybrid plenary session with clear speech for room and online audience
A plenary conference session followed both in the room and online, where speech had to be clearly intelligible everywhere.
The large plenary hall had many hard surfaces, which quickly made speech unclear, while the online audience expected an equally good experience.
We advised a focused sound design with intelligibility as the starting point and a separate mix for the livestream, so both audiences could be served independently.
A distributed sound setup with headsets for the speakers, a control position for image and sound, and projection on large screens for the presentations.
We built up a day ahead, ran a sound check with all speakers and steered both room and stream from a central control position throughout the programme.
Both the room and the online audience followed the session with ease. Speech stayed clear all day and the transitions ran smoothly.
