A town hall in a difficult, reverberant company canteen where both the management and questions from the audience had to be clearly intelligible.
The company canteen had a high ceiling and many hard floors and walls, which caused speech to disappear into reverberation, while employees also wanted to ask live questions.
We advised a focused sound design with loudspeakers close to the audience and roving microphones for the room, so every question and every answer could be followed clearly.
A distributed loudspeaker setup to limit reverberation, headsets for the management, wireless roving microphones for the room and screens for the presentation.
We placed the loudspeakers so the sound stayed directed, ran an intelligibility test in the empty space and supported the Q&A with quick microphone handovers.
Despite the difficult acoustics, the town hall was easy to follow everywhere. The Q&A ran smoothly and every question came across clearly.
